An update on Barb Hammes from Bud Hammes..... As you all know, Barb was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last August. This is a particularly deadly cancer and so we were very concerned. Fortunately, Barb has responded exceptionally well to her treatment. She has had 9 rounds of a very effective, but toxic, chemotherapy and 5 rounds of high dose radiation. It was determined yesterday that her tumor and body have responded so well that the surgeon is now comfortable removing the tumor itself. Surgery is planned for March 11 at UW Health in Madison. This is a risky surgery, but it provides the best chance for a much longer survival and possible remission. Thanks for all your support, thoughts, and prayers. I hope to report more positive news in a few weeks! |
