Our presenter this week is Ed McCann, a Conservation Warden who has been serving our state for 19 years, working in Fond du Lac, the Investigative Unit, and in La Crosse.Although he has statewide authority, he covers the south half of La Crosse county and Pool 8 of the Mississippi River. In his presentation, he'll share photos from his work and discuss the basic day-to-day duties of a Conservation Warden, and provide time for Q&A.
Those attending will gain a better understanding about how Wardens help protect the people and natural resources of the State of Wisconsin.
We will also welcome a new member to our club...Teresa Pierce proposed by Jerry Hanoski. Teresa is the Executive Director of Workforce Connections, Inc. Please welcome her to our club!
Celebration time....one of our Rotary couples will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with us. Congratulations to Roger and Kenna Christians....they were married on August 30, 1969.
We also need your Packer tickets/money turned in this Thursday....drawing for the prizes will be next week!
As our club continues to grow, it becomes more difficult to know your fellow Rotarians. Beyond the fellowship that we enjoy each Thursday and beyond committees on which you may serve, there may be activities or interests that you share with other members, but you simply haven't discovered that mutual bond.
Do you want to get to know some of your fellow Rotarians better? Find out which ones have the same interests that you do by taking 3 minutes to complete the survey linked below.
We welcomed Audra Wieser, Early Care and Education Director from The Parenting Place. She discussed the Childcare Crisis.
In Wisconsin, more than half the population live in what is called a "Child Care Desert" according to the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. That's where there are more than three times the number of children to available child care spots in a particular zip code.
Contact Craig Ubbelohde if you would like to enter in the Downtown Rotary Fantasy Football Fundraiser. Entry fee is $20...make payment to Craig. The winner will donate his winnings to either Rotary Works or The Rotary International Foundation - Annual or Polio Plus fund. The club will match the dollar amount with points toward a Paul Harris.
Rotarian Al Louis Muskie fishing trip has ended with 4 muskies caught. He will be donating $500 and a Rotary friend from Lake Vermilion will donate $200.
We have raised $3,460.00 in pledges and outright gifts.
Please make your checks out to THE PARENTING PLACE and either send to Rotary Club of La Crosse, PO Box 1914 La Crosse, WI 54602-1914 or drop off at the designated table at Rotary this week. WE WILL NOT BE INVOICING YOU.
