7 Rivers Community High School & Project Based Learning

Keachen Abing, a La Crosse native, teaches Social Studies at the 7 Rivers Community High School, which he helped found. In 2016 he won the Top Notch Teacher award and also serves as a director of La Crosse SOUP. Keachen will be talking to us about the 7 Rivers Community High School and Project Based Learning. The idea for the school came about when parents of children at the La Crosse Design Institute, a project-based charter hosted at Longfellow Middle School, voiced their support for a high school level program. Project Based Learning provides each student the unique opportunity to dive into their areas of interest and passions. He says, "it is AMAZING to see how students can connect their interests to the curriculum and how how each project has the potential to make an impact in our community."
