As I write my last weekly president’s message and reflect upon our outstanding Centennial event last week, I would like to offer up some “Thank-Yous”.
Thank you for the opportunity to be your President this year. The experience has been extraordinary.
Thank you to all of you who make our club such a vibrant, caring and giving organization. Our club is truly special.
Thank you to our club for sponsoring three of our sons to participate in the Rotary Youth Exchange program. This program truly changes lives and creates a small step towards achieving world peace.
Thank you Lyn Sheffer. You are truly special.
Lastly, I fell woefully short of my goal to have Eva Marie and I share a meal with each one of you along with your spouse, partner, significant other, etc. during my year as President. For those of you with whom we did share a meal, those meals were one of the many highlights of my year as President. This process was such a positive experience, Eva Marie and I have decided to simply extend our timeline and continue to reach out to everyone with hopes of sharing a meal with all of you. We plan to continue this course of action until we have shared a meal with all of you.
We need 3 or 4 volunteers to help build two raised planter boxes at the Garden this Wednesday June 26 @ 5:00 p.m.
We will need basic hand tools including a power drill. Steve O'Malley will bring what he has, but it would be helpful if someone else brought tools too. Should take about an hour or so to complete. The short video link shows what we will be building.
This week at Rotary we will welcome Dr. Tom Nebel, Senior Assoicate at GiANT Worldwide. GiANT Worldwide is a global company dedicated to leadership transformation through intentional apprenticeship.
Dr. Tom Nebel’s earliest recollections are those of being a successful entrepreneur. At the age of six he would construct small wooden ships, pack them in his wagon, and sell them to soft-hearted workers as they finished their shift at the local shipyard in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Since those days he has dedicated himself to creating organizations that work, both in the profit and not-for-profit sectors, and helping others to do the same. He has authored six books on the subject of starting and growing new ventures, having directed organizations at local, regional, national, and international levels.
Tom is recognized as an engaging public communicator and an effective coach of those seeking to increase their personal and organizational capacity. He specializes in recognizing and removing the obstacles which stand in the way of success. His personal interests include fitness, history, travel, reading, a family cottage in Door County, Wisconsin, and the National Football League. A Wisconsin native, he makes his home in Madison–or at Green Bay’s Lambeau Field, where he is a season-ticket holder.
Rotarians from our club and district celebrated our Rotary Club's Centennial last Thursday evening at the La Crosse Center. It was an amazing night of celebration and fellowship. Stephanie Urchick - Rotary International Director Elect 2019-2021 was our guest speaker. We had a surprise visit from Paul Harris (aka Rick Kyte).
