theExchange - People helping People - Many families in our community need a helping hand.  theExchange partners with local social service organizations to provide free gently used furniture, kitchen and household goods to community members in need.

Bill Hoel had two guests last week, Denise Shedivy (and her husband Carl).  She volunteers with theExchange, which is a local non-profit helping the homeless.  They’re a part of the La Crosse Collaborative to End Homelessness.  What they do is, when a homeless person finally gets some shelter, the person’s social worker brings them to theExchange, and they get what Denise describes as “an apartment in a bag” – stuff needed to set up housekeeping, including some furniture.  Problem is, theExchange is being removed from the donated space it has occupied for awhile.  If anyone has a lead on possible space that might be available to this agency – they need about 3,000 sq. ft. , please reach Bill Hoel, who can connect you with the agency.

If you have something you would like to donate....here is their brochure with more information.
