Environmental Committee
The Environmental Committee was formed in 2019 just before Rotary International declared "Supporting the Environment "as its Seventh Area of Focus. Our vision statement is: "The Environmental Committee will strengthen conservation of natural resources, advance ecological sustainability, and foster harmony between communities and the environment". Our main focuses are on restoring habitats for pollinators/butterflies and river clean ups. We plan to keep these consistent themes throughout the next several years to see a larger impact.   For our Pollinator/Butterfly Projects, we hope to restore their habitats in Wisconsin Rotary District 6250 and along the Great River Road from Lake Itasca to the Gulf of Mexico.

In the recent past, we have been a part of a Pollinator/Butterfly Project that involved plantings in the La Crosse area and creating two Pollinator/Butterfly Webinars during the 2021 District "Rotary Days of Environmental Service". We have gathered volunteers for three river clean-ups with one that was coordinated with other Rotary Clubs along the Mississippi River. We are currently working on a Pollinator/Butterfly Project along 9th Street in La Crosse in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity.

We meet the first Thursday of the month from 11:15-11:45 am in the location of the club meeting. We welcome anyone to join our committee who has an interest in supporting and protecting the environment.
