This Week: Lithium-ion Battery Recycling Initiative…Why it matters and how easy it is to implement and have a huge impact!

Clari Nolet was on the ESRAG Board and worked to successfully add the Environment to Rotary’s Areas of Focus. In Rotary year 24/25 she was Vice Chair of ESRAG. She has worked on the Airfare Carbon Calculator Project and the Rotary Club and Event Calculator.  She also headed up the task force for CFC Refrigerants Destruction and is currently the head of the Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Initiative. She spoke on this topic at the Rotary International Convention in Calgary and Zone Institute for Zones 26/27 in Albuquerque.

It is Clari’s belief that creating easy to implement environmental projects utilizing a tool kits/project in a box approach can increase Rotary Clubs’ impact on the environment. Environmental projects will encourage a new generation in joining Rotary and attract new Rotarians dedicated to addressing environmental issues.  She has a BS in Chemistry and has an MBA in Finance.  She currently works as a financial advisor and as an advisor to an AI start-up.  She supports ESRAG, Rotary International and the joined the Board of ESRAG in 2019 and the Los Altos Rotary Club (LARC) in Northern California in 2007.  She has served on the LARC Board and as President of the Los Altos Rotary Endowment Fund.

Next Week: Paul Harris Awards, 25-26 Rotarian of the Year Recognition, President's Wine Raffle, and a Special Program by the Games Committee YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS!

LOTS happening here today!  It will be a fun-filled, energizing meeting!

Join us this week to review our 2025-2026 club goals, recognizing Paul Harris recipients and our club Rotarian of the Year, the President's Wine Raffle drawing ... and... the Games Committee has something very special planned to celebrate our Rotary year end!. LET THEM ENTERTAIN YOU!

FOUNDATION MINUTE FOR June 8, 2026

Welcome to Week THREE of RI’s Month of Fellowships.

How else do you spell Fellowship if not T-A-I-P-E-I where the annual Rotary International Convention kicked off June 13. The report hot from the press states that over 30,000 Rotarians and participants from more than 120 countries are expected at this year’s gathering. The Rotary convention is expected to inject US$50-55 million into the local economy, and drive significant business for Taipei’s hotels, restaurants, retailers, and tourism attractions. Taipei was selected as the site of the 2021 Rotary convention, but the event was cancelled because of the COVID pandemic. Held in a different city each year, Rotary’s international conventions serve as a hub for members and participants to connect and learn from each other and a range of experts on how to take action to address issues in their communities and promote
health, peace, and prosperity in communities across the globe.

“Rotary conventions are powerful moments of unity, where people from every corner of the world come together to connect, celebrate service, and spark new ideas for creating a healthier and more peaceful future,” said Arezzo. “We’re honored to welcome the global Rotary family to Taipei in June 2026, and I look forward to
reconnecting with old friends and making new ones as we share in the joy of our collective work to uplift communities around the world.” Organized by Rotary International in conjunction with local Rotary members, the convention presents an opportunity to showcase Taipei’s culture, food, and attractions. In Taiwan, Rotary
members are engaged in a wide range of community projects. Over the last 100 years, US$5.5 billion has been awarded through The Rotary Foundation – Rotary’s charitable arm that helps clubs work together to perform meaningful, impactful service.
