Last week our guest speaker was Michael Martino...New Generation of Art in the La Crosse Area.  Mike has done a number of sculptures pieces in the La Crosse area. The Simpler Time in Riverside Park is one of his pieces.  He not only specializes in bronze sculptures but also wood, snow and sand.  Michael shares his love of sculpturing with children in various artist in residence programs and presentations at schools.

Michael will create works of art for clients with a theme of their own within their budget and schedule.

Our Avenues of Service Banquet was a huge success.  Thanks to all who attended and supported the raffles.  We were able to donate $2,160.91 to Rotary Works and $1,000.00 to Rotary Lights - Discover Wisconsin fund.  Everyone enjoyed the Caledonia venue and the bus ride there....so next year we will be heading back to Caledonia for the 27th Annual Avenues of Service Banquet on August 16, 2016.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS ON OUR ROTARY VISTA TRAIL for the Wisconsin Off Road Series.  We are looking for 6-8 volunteers to staff the Rotary Water Station during  this event at the top of Vista Trail on Sunday, September 27th.  They will have a Gator to shuttle you from race headquarters to the Water Station and back again.  You would need to be on-site at 11:00 to be ready at the station at 11:30.  The shift would be over at about 2:00 pm.   You can register online by clicking here....or at our upcoming meetings.

NO MEETING ON OCTOBER 1ST AT THE RADISSON CENTER....We will be meeting at the Oktoberfest grounds for a Rotary fellowship on October 1st.  Come down to the fest grounds for the Lederhosen Luncheon.  Lunch is from 11-2.

We will sell tickets and buttons at our upcoming meetings...cost is $7.50 for lunch and $7.00 for the buttons.  You can purchase them at the day of the event....however buttons will then be $10.00.  We will take cash or checks made out to Oktoberfest-USA for $14.50.

In the past we would have our meeting down there, however because of the shorten schedule they can not accommodate us for our meeting so we felt we could still support the community event by attending their Lederhosen Luncheon.

Those that attend can use this event as a make-up.  It will be your responsibility to let Earlamae Dahlby know that you would like a make-up.

Oktoberfest Parades....this year the area Rotary Clubs will be walking in the Torchlight and Maple Leaf Parades.  We are looking for walkers for both...Torchlight is Thursday, October 1st at 7:00 pm and the Maple Leaf is Saturday, October 3rd at 10:00 am....if you are willing to walk in one or both...please click here and register.   You will then be contacted with more details.

This is a great way for our clubs to build community awareness on all the wonderful things Rotary does in the La Crosse area and the world.

Family and friends are welcome to walk with you!

You are invited to a social honoring the 2015 James J Corbett Recipient....Carl Miller....The Grounded Coffee, 300 Main Street, La Crosse, Wisconsin on September 25th....Social from 9-1 and Ceremony with Mayor Tim Kabat at 10:30 am. Carl is a honorary member of our club.  Congratulations to Carl!
