THIS WEEK AT ROTARY
This week our program will be about Dairyland Power Electrification Enables a More Productive, Efficient, and Cleaner Energy System  presented by Rob Palmberg.

LAST WEEK AT ROTARY
Our program last week was about LeaderEthics-Wisconsin, presented by Lee Rasch.

LeaderEthics â€“Wisconsin is a non-partisan/non-profit organization dedicated to promoting integrity in the American Democracy through ethical leadership practices among elected officials. Ethical leaders are:
  1. Honest and truthful.
  2. Transparent with public information.
  3. Unifiers rather than dividers, and
  4. Willing to represent the collective interests of their constituency.

PowerPoint Presentation

Dean Dickinson left us with a quote from Rick Kyte: â€œThe Four Way Test reminds us that there are four ways of evaluating whether any particular action is right or wrong: Truth, fairness, character and consequences.  When we try to justify behavior by focusing on just one or two ways in evaluating an action we are exercising moral partiality.  Integrity is compromised whenever we selectively choose the kind of evaluation that works best for our favored position.  The Four Way Test gives us a way out of such impasses if we are willing to take it.  We should step back and carefully evaluate potentially controversial topics using all four ways of ethical thinking.  That is the path to integrity."

TREE PLANTING AND SOCIAL

Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 2 to be part of our Tree Planting Project and Year End Picnic at Camp Decorah. This is a collaborative project with Rotary After Hours.

The first part of the day we need volunteers to help plant up to 200 white pine saplings. Fun outside activities will start around 11:00 and end by 3:00 (options include; kayaking, zip lining, and fishing) The picnic lunch will be from 11:30 to 1:00 and is only $5 per person.

Come to plant, come to picnic or just come to play outside. All Rotarians and their families are invited to attend.

Register today at this link: click here.

We have a number of Rotarians planting their own trees...we ask that you take a photo of yourself with the tree(s) so that we can have a slide show on our web site and submit to Rotary International.   Thanks to Jack and Ann Haase for submitting their photo.

ROTARIANS OF THE YEAR 2017-18

Rotarians of the Year

We had a number of great nominations for Rotarian of the Year this year.  The Board selected Steve Lindeman and Steve O'Malley for this honor.

Steve Lindeman

Nominations stated....Steve has worked to improve the experience of our military members as they process through the La Crosse airport. He has worked with the USO to determine needs, helped raise funds including a Rotary Works and District Grants.  He is establishing a group of volunteers who undergo training to staff the USO. Because of Steve's work, the members of our military will have a more enjoyable experience as they process through La Crosse via the airport.  He he is currently a member of our Board of Directors, chaired our Rotary Lights Float Committee and is an active member of the Kids Coulee crew and chef for Kids Coulee.  He is a great asset to Rotary.

Steve O'Malley

Nominations stated...Steve spearheaded our Rotary Habitat Project.  Rotarians worked together to complete one of three units in a new triplex. He applied for a grant through Rotary Works and District 6250 and raised $60,000 for the project.  He organized Rotary work days and visited other clubs to promote the fundraiser. He is a leader in Rotary and our community. He embodies the Four Way Test in his professional and personal life.  This year he exceeded the $400,000 mark riding in his 20th annual Habitat 500 (500 mile, 7 day ride).    He helped lead the Humanitarian Committee Comfort Drive collecting 400 sweatshirts and 700 pairs of socks for the Catholic Charities Warming Center.  As the La Crosse County Administrator, Steve leads by example a work force of over 1,300 public servants providing outstanding services to the residents of our county.

Our Rotarians of the Year will be recognized at our "changing of the guard" meeting on Thursday, June 28th and the Avenues of Service Dinner on Tuesday, August 14th.
