Our program this Thursday will be our Exchange Student Anni. Anni is from Finland and will tell us a little about herself and her family. Anni celebrated her 17th birthday last Friday.
Reminder we will be collecting food and monetary donations for the Interact iFeed Project. Those that write a check (Rotary Works Foundation) will be included in a drawing for gift cards from Grounded Specialty Coffee and Apothic. Bring your bags of food this week! Support our Interact Students...we will divide our collection between all the clubs.

Last week our guest speaker was our very own Rotarian Andy Bakkum. Andy gave his classification talk. Andy is Vice President Community Banking Private Banking at US Bank...Andy is married and has two boys. Andy joined our club November 20, 2014. We thank him for sharing his life journey with us and how his path lead him to US Bank and our Rotary Club.
Hal Keitel... Note from Julie Keitel.... Hal has met all the objectives to be discharged. But the medicine team would like him to stay one more night to make sure that the pain is under control before going home. We have met with Physical Therapy and the Prosthetic team. He has a 3/4 plaster cast, with a removable post and shoe. He can get around a little with a walker, and in/out of bed very well. Everything is falling into place at home, so we feel everything will be in place for Hal's homecoming on Tuesday. Thanks for all the phone calls, texts, visits.... we appreciate your support and love.

After years of talking about getting a web site for Rotary Works ....Bob Spencer has made it a reality...please give Bob a big thank you when you see him.

Join Rotary on 23 October for their third annual World Polio Day event. They will be streaming live from New York City, so tune in at 5:30 p.m. CST to watch a global status update on the fight to end polio and take part in the conversation. Guests will include Global Polio Eradication Initiative partners, celebrity ambassadors, polio survivors, and others.
Our club will be offering a match for those that donate to Polio Plus...above and beyond your annual pledge....details will be announced this week at Rotary.
If you have walked the Rotary Vista Trail to the Rim of the City Road you will see that the memorial bench in honor of Rotarian Tom Reinert donated by the "Friends of Tom Reinert" has been placed. Thanks to all those that donated to this memorial and a special thanks goes to Sheila Wieser and La Crosse Memorials for their help in ordering and placing the bench on the trail.

Thank you cards are only $1.00, as are the note cards, which are blank inside. The regular cards are $2.00 and $3.00 each. Some cards are three for $5.00 and some three for $10. Anita donates all sales to the Rotary Works Foundation!

OUR ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE STUDENT IN ISTANBUL, TURKEY
I’m Cameron Neader, an 18 year old who’s lucky enough to have a “once in a life experience” two times. I went on exchange to Fyn, Denmark in 2013-2014 through Rotary and now on a second Rotary Youth exchange to Istanbul, Turkey for 2015-2016. My first day in Turkey was September 1st.
Tomah Rotary’s third annual Wine into Water event takes place Thursday, Oct. 22at the Cranberry Country Lodge in Tomah. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and lasts until 8:30-p.m. Tickets include a sampling of local and international wines paired with amazing hors d’oeuvres. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. The evening’s activities include silent auction, Ipad raffle, and a live auction featuring a wide variety of handmade art and unique experiences. Beautiful art pieces donated by local artists, Mathews bow, kayaking experiences, gourmet dinners, fishing trips, cooking classes, and handmade quilts are just a few of the auction items available.
Special guests this year are Mike Thompson and Jennifer Livingston, anchors for WKBT NewsChannel8.
Funds raised from this event will support the Tomah Rotary’s International Project in Busulo, Uganda, including initiatives for clean water, self-sustaining chicken farm, educational support, and micro businesses for women and young men. Last year’s Wine Into Water event raised over $35,000 to support this mission. The funds have already been used in Uganda to provide ongoing clean water, education, and daily meals to over 17,000 children.
New this year funds from the Chinese Water raffle will be used to support Tomah’s Holiday Lights and other local Tomah Rotary community activities.
Tickets are $20 each, the cost to provide a child with 20 years of clean water.
Tickets may be purchased at the following locations: Tomah Chamber of Commerce, Tomah Area Credit Union, Timberwood Bank, Partnership Bank, F & M Bank, Clifton Larson Allen LLP, First Choice Realty, Westland Insurance, Holthaus Insurance, Brenegen Auto, and Chitwood Nichols and Matthews and at the door.
iFeed is a one-day event where over 50,000 dried meals are packed and boxed, ready for shipment to a country where children are hungry. It's also a one-day all-Coulee Region food drive to fill area food pantries. iFeed is a joint service project of the five area Interact Clubs and the La Crosse Area Rotary Clubs as an extension of Rotary Lights Food collections. Honorary Membership is offered to members who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals. Honorary membership is the highest distinction that a club may bestow and should be conferred only in exceptional cases. Honorary members cannot propose new members to the club or hold office and are exempt from attendance requirements and club dues. Honorary members will continue to receive The Rotarian Magazine compliments of the club.
Membership Proposals....we will no longer ask for three references when you propose a new member. This was a criteria that our club had set not RI. This will help us process new members into our club more efficiently. You can access the membership proposal form online, under the Club Information site page.
Rotary Attendance policy is to attend or makeup at least 50% of the club meetings during the first six months and the second six months. They can be done by: • Attending regular club meetings • Making up meetings at other Rotary Clubs ( which includes E-Clubs) • Engaging in club projects/events/fellowship/board meetings.
