In cooperation with community foundations from across the Americas, Lauren and the rest of the team at LACF are learning about how to create more welcoming and belonging communities. To do so, we're building our social networks and the networks of those we engage with. We can all do more together: let's build bridges and recognize innovative, collaborative solutions in our communities.

Condolences
Thomas Francis Brock died September 12, 2024, at home, surrounded by his daughters and wife.
Tom was a member of Rotary Club of La Crosse for 20 years. From his wife, Jan: He wanted you all to know how much you all meant to him. The fellowship and ideals were two things he really valued - the principles/4 way test has always had a prominent place on his desk.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 12 at the La Crosse Country Club from 2-4 pm. A private burial has been held. Schumacher Kish Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Hospitalizations
An update on Cheryl Hanson...Cheryl continues to recover and now at Bethany St. Joseph at 250 Shelby Road, La Crosse, Room 109. She has a follow up with Orthopedics to check on her progress. She thanks you all for the well wishes!
Our speakers, Joe Ruskey, fellow Rotarian and owner of Dependable Solutions, and Investigator Darin Daveau with the La Crescent Police Department, will share information on the latest cybercrimes and scams affecting people in our area. They'll also share strategies to help you recognize, prevent, and report scams. The event is free and open to the public, but you must register to attend.
Pickleball for Polio - October 24th
Help us CELEBRATE WORLD POLIO DAY! Pickleball for Polio takes place at the Blue Zone Pickleball, 2500 Rose Street, La Crosse on Thursday, October 24th, which is World Polio Day.
There are four ways to participate in this fundraiser, all of which include a donation to Polio Plus:

Welcome to Week TWO of RI’s Month of Economic & Community Development.
A student from Malawi (East Africa) has arrived in Reading, England, after
receiving a £26,000 ($34,115 USD) Rotary Foundation Grant. Grace Mkangama, from Lilongwe, Malawi, arrived on September 18 to begin her one-year MSc in Climate, Environment, and Development at the University of Reading. The funds, which also included donations from a local Rotary Club, will support her studies. Members of the Reading Abbey Rotary Club will assist Ms. Mkangama in settling into British student life and introduce her to the history and culture of the Thames Valley. Upon completing her studies, Ms. Mkangama aims to return to Malawi to work on programs with young people and small-scale farmers to enhance food production while conserving the environment. Reading Abbey Rotary Club is one of six Rotary Clubs in and around the Reading area. Reading is located between London and Bristol in SE England.
