Gundersen's DEI Journey & Strategy

Mai Chao is a visual artist, intercultural author, and global educator. She holds a Doctor of Education degree in Student Affairs Administration Leadership. Prior to becoming Sr. Consultant in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Gundersen Health System, she taught across the K-16 American educational system. At the heart of Mai Chao’s research interest is creating culturally engaging environments that welcome inclusion and belonging. She is passionate about working collectively with leaders across communities to close the health disparities gap while fostering belonging for all. In her limited free time, she enjoys creating, reading, writing, traveling, and being with family. She is the proud author of an intercultural, historical novel, called Gathering Fireflies (2015).
