Honorary Membership is offered to members who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals. Honorary membership is the highest distinction that a club may bestow and should be conferred only in exceptional cases. Honorary members cannot propose new members to the club or hold office and are exempt from attendance requirements and club dues. Honorary members are entitled to attend all meetings of this club and others, wear the RI emblem, badge or other insignia, and enjoy all the other privileges of the club other than the right to vote or hold office within the club. These statements are according to the Rotary International Manual of Procedure, Standard Rotary Club Constitution.
Rotary Club of La Crosse designated the following criteria in addition to the above.
Last week, Rotarian Greg Reichert gave his classification talk.
Greg serves as the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and President of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse UWL Foundation.
After a successful 12-year career in economic development, Greg moved into the higher education arena at his alma mater, Northwest Missouri State University. As part of a small fundraising team, they successfully completed the school's first-ever capital campaign, exceeding $42 million. He was then chosen to lead the advancement efforts at Avila University in Kansas City where they set school records in fundraising in four out of the five years he was there. Greg joined the advancement team at UW-L in 2010 and has helped launch the $15 million Share the La Crosse Experience Scholarship Campaign.
Classification Talk: Some have described the classification talk as a talking business card. But it is so much more than that! You can share vital and interesting information about your family, your interest and your business. The talk is not meant to embarrass you, but to let us get to know you as you want us to. You are not expected to present yourself as a professional speaker. Most of us are not. Contact Sarah Arendt-Beyer Program Chair for the year if you would like to give your classification talk.
David Stoeffler, Youth Committee member presented Matthew Jankowski with his
$1,000 Service Above Self Award
Matthew just completed his first semester at University of North Dakota.
"I had a really good first semester. I adjusted to my new school and college level classes well, along with making many new friends, working at the library for my work study financial aid and volunteering in leadership opportunities in student government. It's been a lot of work but also a lot of fun too."
Matthew thanks the La Crosse Rotary in supporting him in his studies at UND.
