Last week at Rotary our guest speaker was Kevin O'Reilly, CEO of Supply Chain Solutions...he spoke on PhoenixMart, the largest distribution hub in the world being build in Phoenix, AZ and the lead role that Supply Solutions, a La Crosse based company is playing in this major project.

PhoenixMart,  the gateway to America's manufacturing future, is home to showrooms, shops, offices, services, conference centers, and convention halls.  As the largest, fully integrated, multi-category supply center in the world, PhoenixMart offers a comprehensive selection of American quality products at globally competitive prices. Jenny Parker from the  Rotary Club of Tomah presented a Paul Harris award from the Tomah Rotary Club in memory of Hal Keitel to his wife Julie. Hal was instrumental in helping the Tomah Rotary Club and our club with the "Wine into Water" fundraisers that supported the Uganda Clean Water project.  His expertise to secure grants from our District and Rotary International will total $300,000.  Fourteen wells have been constructed so far along with economic and educational projects. One of the new wells this year will be dedicated in Hal's memory.

Tomah Rotary will be having their 5th "Wine into Water" event.  "Wine to Water" date will be finalized, projected for mid Oct 2016.  Join them for the fifth annual Tomah Rotary wine tasting fundraiser, an evening of friendship, wine and compassion. Attendees will sample African wines, learn about Rotary’s Uganda project, and participate in silent and live auctions. For $20 you will receive samples of five African wines and contribute to providing children clean water for 20 years. Tickets are available from any Tomah Rotary member or at the door. Past Event:  Through your efforts Tomah Rotary funded and built four new wells in Uganda in 2015 and 6 more wells are projected for 2016.

YOUTH EXCHANGE HOST FAMILIES NEEDED FOR ONE NIGHT

YOUTH EXCHANGE HOST FAMILIES NEEDED FOR ONE NIGHT...For the second year in a row, our Rotary Club will be sponsoring a Youth Exchange Weekend on March 4-6.  Beginning Friday, March 4th, Inbound Youth Exchange Students from around the state will be arriving for a fun-filled weekend.  They will be joined by the newly identified US Outbound Exchange Students who will represent Wisconsin and the United States around the world starting in August.

We are in need for places for these 25-30 students to stay on Friday night, March 4th.  Your accommodations do not need to be 5-star - the students will be bringing sleeping bags and will be sleeping on a gym floor, place to be determined on Saturday Night March 5th.

Normally, the Rotarian is asked to pickup between 1-3 students (a carload at most) and show them a good time on Friday evening.  That may involve dinner at home with your family, taking them out to your favorite restaurant, perhaps a play or show - anything that you think they will find interesting.  Make sure they get a good breakfast on Saturday morning, and then deliver them to a local location just before lunch on Saturday when the weekend officially begins.  That's it - it is that easy!

The students will have a packed schedule starting on Saturday - lunch at a local establishment, a tour of the Maria Angelorum Chapel with Sister Mary Ann, a tour of Viterbo put together by Rick Kyte, and then an evening of skiing at Mt. La Crosse.  We will then crash at the Boys & Girls Club as mentioned earlier.

This is an excellent opportunity for our club to get a re-taste of the energy and enthusiasm of a Youth Exchange Student, plus get that guest bedroom and family room floor used for the first time since the holidays! Getting the chance to meet and spend a little time with these young people will instill hope that we are moving towards a better world... :-)

If you are able and interested in opening your hearth to one or more of these students for one night (March 4th), please let me know by email william.a.pritchard@stifel.com or a phone call (608) 780-2637.  Thank you all in advance!!

We have a Committee Page on our web site - committee descriptions, committee lists, sign up form, etc....click here to view.   Please review the lists....if you are not on a committee or would like to switch committees....please fill out the form and return to Lyn.
