Our Inbound Student 2005-06 was Sabrina Jeckelmann from Switzerland. Sabrina and her boyfriend Felix are in Wisconsin visiting. They were staying with Jack and Ann Haase while in La Crosse. Sabrina and Felix attended our meeting with Mary Stanek who was Sabrina's YEC. It was so nice to hear what she has been up to these past ten years. She said she will be back to visit us again!

Sabrina showed us why our club's involvement in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program is a great investment....Rotary Youth Exchange is an opportunity to learn a new culture and language, opportunity to be an ambassador and an opportunity to make friends for a lifetime.
Seoul hosted Rotary International's 107th annual convention 28 May-1 June 2016 at KINTEX, more than 50,000 Rotary club members from over 150 countries attended. Our incoming president Patt Boge attended along with Rotarian Eva Marie Restel. Eva Marie said it was an incredible experience and suggested members consider attending the 2017 RI Convention in Atlanta next year.
La Crosse Rotary and Valley Project to support a secondary school - Sanitation and Menstrual Health Management Project. Our club's Board of Directors approved this as a club project which allows Roger and Sondra to collect donations for the project AND submit a matching grant to our District 6250.
The project site is in a small rural village located in TamilNadu, South India. The project will address the following sanitation needs: to help build toilet blocks for 745 students and 18 teachers at Pattamadai Ramaseshier Secondary School; to provide basic Menstrual Health Management for 253 girls at Ramaseshier School; to provide 1 incinerator and maintenance for disposal of used sanitary napkins and to train school maintenance worker for the incinerator. Total project cost will be $6200....they have submitted a matching grant to District 6250 for $3100. They will need to raise $3100 and have already have raised $2300 need only $800.

Friday and Saturday, July 15-16, 2016 - Copeland Park - La Crosse, WIsconsin.The Franciscan Healthcare Center for Breast Care will host the Coulee Region’s only dragon boat festival on Friday and Saturday, July 15-16, 2016. Teams will race head to head on the Black River along Copeland Park.

Save the date for our Spring Social, Tuesday, June 21st at Valley High Golf Club, Houston. Golfing will start around Noon and Social around 5:30.
Cost will be $55 per person for golf - includes a lunch (brat, hotdog, or ham/turkey sandwich, chips-pickle spear and 18 holes of golf with cart. This would be a 4 person team scramble ($15 will be donated back to Rotary).
Cost of the social will be $7.00 for Rotarians and $20 per person - appetizers will be served. Cash bar.

Honorary Membership is offered to members who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals. Honorary membership ithe highest distinction that a club may bestow and should be conferred only in exceptional cases. Honorary members cannot propose new members to the club or hold office and are exempt from attendance requirements and club dues. Honorary members will continue to receive The Rotarian Magazine compliments of the club.
Excused Membershipis offered to members if the aggregate of the member’s years of age and years of membership in one or more clubs is 85 years or more, the member has been a member of one or more clubs for at least 20 years, and the member has notified the club's secretary in writing of the member’s desire to be excused from attendance and the board has approved. Excused Members will pay the quarterly dues of $67 and only for meals when they attend a meeting.
Membership Proposals....we will no longer ask for three references when you propose a new member. This was a criteria that our club had set not RI. This will help us process new members into our club more efficiently. You can access the membership proposal form online, under the Club Information site page.
