Our program last week was: The National Eagle Center: Leveraging Natural Assets for Community Development. They brought a special guest, Was'aka, a 9 year old eagle.
The National Eagle Center is a world-class interpretive center located on the banks of the Mississippi River in Wabasha, MN. They are home to non-releasable bald and golden eagles. During a visit to the National Eagle Center, you can experience these magnificent creatures up close.
March Event...Soar with Eagles....Every year, hundreds of bald eagles migrate up the Mississippi River, feeding on fish as the ice recedes. We celebrate this spring bald eagle migration with our SOAR with the Eagles festival. Each weekend in March enjoy flying bird shows, live animals, our own live eagle programs, a raffle and much more!

PRESENT FOR THE PRESIDENT....If you travel outside of our Rotary District, please consider bringing back a "Present for the President." These will not actually be for the president.... at the year-end Spring Social, the president will pick one item from all of those brought in during the year. The rest of the items go up for auction/raffle to raise some money or be used as raffle gifts throughout the year! A bottle of wine from a faraway place, a book, any memento or neat item that you can get through customs and not be really inconvenienced would be appreciated. If you don't know what to buy, and you're in that faraway place - seek out a Rotarian. Thanks to Jack and Ann Haase who brought back "Chocolate Gravy Mix" - a southern delicacy served over biscuits, from Jeff Odom's hometown of Florence, Alabama!
Our next STAR Meeting will be Thursday, March 10th. We will meet at the Radisson Hotel in the Illinois Room (2nd floor) at 7:00 a.m.
