LAST WEEK AT ROTARY.....we recognized 21 members with Paul Harris Fellow Awards....This is one of the highest honors Rotary can bestow upon a person. Recipients are Rotarians and community professionals in recognition of their outstanding contributions, exemplifying the highest ideal in Rotary in placing 'Service Above Self." Paul Harris Fellow is a person who has contributed, or in whose name a contribution of $US1000 has been made, to the Annual Programs Fund and certain other programs of The Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. As the charitable arm of Rotary, they tap into a global network of Rotarians who invest their time, money, and expertise into our priorities, such as eradicating polio and promoting peace. Foundation grants empower Rotarians to approach challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, and malnutrition with sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact. Strong financial oversight, a stellar charity rating, and a unique funding model mean that we make the very most of your contribution.
Thank you to all members that give to our Rotary International, Polio Plus and Rotary Works Foundation..this year our members have pledged over $45,000 to those three Foundations!
We also had the some of Logan Interact Students as our guests on Thursday....for Purple Pinkie Promise to End Polio...raising money to recognize a Logan faculty member with a Paul Harris Fellow ($1,000). If you were not at Rotary on Thursday and would like to donate, there will be a purple basket for donations this Thursday at the registration table.
Founded in 2001, Charity Navigator has become the nation's largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities. In our quest to help donors, our team of professional analysts has examined tens of thousands of non-profit financial documents. We've used this knowledge to develop an unbiased, objective, numbers-based rating system to assess over 8,000 of America's best-known and some lesser known, but worthy, charities. Specifically, Charity Navigator's rating system examines two broad areas of a charity's performance; their Financial Health and their Accountability & Transparency. Our ratings show givers how efficiently we believe a charity will use their support today, how well it has sustained its programs and services over time and their level of commitment to good governance, best practices and openness with information. In the not-too-distant future, we plan to also rate charities’ reporting of their results. We provide these ratings so that charitable givers/ social investors can make intelligent giving decisions, and so that the nonprofit sector can improve its performance.
The Rotary Foundation's overall score is 96.31, Financial score is 96.66 and Accountability and Transparency is 96.00.

PAST DUE ACCOUNTS: We have sent out past due statements by email and mail. If you received one we would appreciate your payment this week. We still have $8,000 outstanding and would hope that everyone has their account current by the end of the month. This past year members are being, I will say "forgetful" and not making payments in a timely manner. We will now have the sergeant-at-arms involved in tracking those members who are not current and sending out notices. We hope you will be kind enough to keep your account current so that we don't give our sergeant-at-arms, John Wettstein unnecessary extra work.
INFORMATIONAL: We send out invoices each quarter, January, April, July and October. We use the QuickBooks Program and you receive it by email...you can make a payment online through your bank account. You can not view your account online in ClubRunner. When invoices are sent out...Lyn will let everyone know that in the newsletter and the president will announce at the podium...this way in case your invoice did not make it to your inbox you can contact Lyn for a copy.

PRESENT FOR THE PRESIDENT....If you travel outside of our Rotary District, please consider bringing back a "Present for the President." These will not actually be for the president.... at the year-end Spring Social, the president will pick one item from all of those brought in during the year. The rest of the items go up for auction/raffle to raise some money or be used as raffle gifts throughout the year! A bottle of wine from a faraway place, a book, any memento or neat item that you can get through customs and not be really inconvenienced would be appreciated. If you don't know what to buy, and you're in that faraway place - seek out a Rotarian.
If you would like to volunteer to give your Classification Talk, do Rotarians in the News be a greeter or raffle ticket seller, or announce guests, you can email the Monthly Program Chairs that are listed above....just click on their name.
