This week at Rotary we will have Part 1 - Prescription Drug Abuse. We will have a special video presentation - Painkillers: The Story of Steve Rummler. A powerful personal story about a Minnesota man who became addicted to prescription painkillers and eventually died of a heroin overdose in 2011.
Part 2 - Prescription Drug Abuse will be May 19th. Local doctors talk about the perils of prescription drug abuse, how to recognize the signs and how club members and the community can respond. Featuring: Dr. David Onsrud, the addictions specialist with Mayo Clinic Health System Franciscan Healthcare; and Dr. William Bucknam, an addiction psychiatrist with Gundersen Health System.
Last week's program was "More than Red Kettles and a Thrift Store." Thanks to Major Jack Holloway who gave his classification talk and gave us a better insight into our community Salvation Army. This Thursday, May 12th they will be having The Salvation Army Civic Event. With the theme "At the Movies," they will gather at the Cargill Room for food, fellowship, music from Greg Balfany and some good, movie-related, fun. Enjoy an evening out while helping those in need. Proceeds from the event are used to operate The Salvation Army Homeless Shelter. You'll also want to congratulate this year's Community Red Shield Award recipients: Don and Roxanne Weber. Start time is 6:00 p.m. Reservations are $50 each.

Our club's cell number is 608.526.4491 (no land line only cell). Please update your information...I will no longer use the 317.6033 that some of you have.
Our email address is rotarylax@charter.net. You can not use the mailservice@clubrunner.ca as a direct email address. Emails sent from ClubRunner will have the mailservice address and you can REPLY and I will receive the email...HOWEVER you can not use it as direct email address. Hope this clarifies why I may not receive your emails.
Received this information from our ClubRunner Support: The email mailservice@clubrunner.ca is used to send out email. If someone emails that email address directly, it does not go anywhere. But if you send a communication to your Club and someone replies to the mailservice@clubrunner.ca address it is supposed to change the reply email from mailservice@clubrunner.ca to your email address. So if someone replies it will go directly to you. Unfortunately some cell phones and email clients do not change the email address to yours. They keep the mailservice@clubrunner.ca by mistake. This is our of our control. The issue is at the member's end.
Our next STAR Meeting will be Thursday, May 12th. We will meet at the Radisson Hotel in the Wisconsin Room 3 at 7:00 a.m. Please RSVP if you will be attending to rotarylax@charter.net
